Europcar releases EV knowledge hub
The new Knowledge Hub from Europcar Mobility Group UK offers a wealth of resources for drivers considering or transitioning to electric vehicles (EVs).
Comprising a Beginner’s Guide, a Charging Guide, and advice tailored for businesses going electric, this hub serves as a comprehensive information source for both novice and experienced EV drivers. Integrated into the free Digital EV Guide launched in 2023, the Knowledge Hub will be regularly updated to reflect the latest market insights and developments.
“Lack of knowledge is one of the biggest blockers to the EV transition,” explained Tom Middleditch, Head of Electric Mobility at Europcar. “Drivers are bombarded with misinformation and have limited access to first-hand experience of EV ownership. Yet we know that when drivers are provided with accurate, detailed insight the concerns are dispelled pretty quickly.
“The Digital EV Guide was launched last year to give drivers insight into each of the models in our electric fleet as well as accessing Zapmap tools for route planning and calculating journey costs. Now we’ve enhanced that resource with the Knowledge Hub which doesn’t make any assumptions about drivers’ existing knowledge. We’ve included everything from a beginners’ guide to driving electric to more advanced information for fleets.”
Europcar's monthly assessment of barriers to EV adoption reveals that lack of knowledge is a prominent issue among both private motorists and business drivers. To address this challenge, the Knowledge Hub offers comprehensive guidance on various aspects of EV ownership, including vehicle mechanics, range optimization, charging infrastructure, and suitability assessment for individual or business requirements. Additionally, it includes a myth-busting section and an EV glossary to demystify technical terms.
Furthermore, the EV guide provides links to The EV Café and Zapmap, expanding access to additional resources and empowering drivers to take control of their electric journey. Europcar also plans to participate in face-to-face EV events to offer direct support to drivers transitioning to EVs.
“Building and developing our EV guide to now include the Knowledge Hub is an important part of our commitment to helping drivers and businesses transition to low and zero emissions mobility,” added Middleditch. “And we complement the guide with a wide range of electric and hybrid cars and vans for customers to choose on their next rental, to allay fears and give them confidence.”
