Power Integration’s InnoMux-2 1700V GaN switcher IC has been shortlisted for the Electronics Excellence Awards under the Power Product category.

The InnoMux-2 family of single-stage, independently regulated multi-output offline power-supply ICs consolidate AC/DC and downstream DC/DC conversion stages into a single chip, offering a revolutionary new way to design multi-output PSUs by providing up to three independently regulated voltage outputs or two voltage output and a constant current output from a single stage, achieving a compact and efficient power subsystem with accurate regulation and low component count.

This increases efficiency, reduces losses, and saves PCB space for applications in white goods, industrial systems, displays, and other applications requiring multiple voltages. Elimination of separate DC/DC stages slashes component count, reduces PCB footprint and increases efficiency by as much as 10 percentage points compared to traditional two-stage architectures.

The InnoMux family also now includes the industry's first power devices to feature a 1700V GaN switch. The high voltage rating achieved by PowiGaN technology marks a watershed moment in the advancement of GaN power electronics, making it possible for GaN devices to replace costly silicon carbide (SiC) transistors in high voltage applications such as automotive chargers, solar inverters, three-phase meters and other industrial power systems. The new IC easily supports 1000VDC nominal sources and achieves 90% efficiency for up to 70W.

Introduced in 2024, the new InnoMux-2 ICs combine 1700V GaN and three other recent innovations: independent, accurate, multi-output regulation; FluxLink secondary-side regulation (SSR) digital isolation communications technology; and zero voltage switching (ZVS) without an active-clamp, which all but eliminates switching losses.

The InnoMux2-EP IC dramatically improves power conversion efficiency. By independently regulating and protecting each output, the InnoMux-2 family eliminates multiple downstream conversion stages.
