EEA shortlist: Dukosi
Dukosi’s Cell Monitoring System – DKCMS has been shortlisted for the Electronics Excellence Awards under the Test & Measurement Product category.
Dukosi Cell Monitoring System (DKCMS) is a groundbreaking contactless solution for high-power batteries that improves performance, reliability, safety and scalability, and helps create a sustainable battery value chain. The DKCMS, with its chip-on-cell technology and innovative contactless cell monitoring, represents a leap forward in battery management, ensuring highly accurate, synchronous measurements of temperature and voltage of each cell and communicates with deterministic latency to the battery management system (BMS), which improves SoC and SoH estimates and helps extract more usable energy per cell.
Developed through extensive R&D, DKCMS addresses critical challenges in high-power battery systems for safety critical applications from automotive to stationary battery energy storage systems and provides lifetime traceability of each cell to help create a sustainable battery value chain.
The system's novel contactless architecture overcomes the limitations of traditional wired and far field wireless systems and frees physical design constraints to provide greater safety, design flexibility and scalability. DKCMS can be applied to batteries using cylindrical, pouch, or prismatic cells and can support any cell chemistry, including common NMC, increasingly popular LFP, and even emerging technologies such as Sodium-ion.
The DKCMS consists of DK8102 Cell Monitors, a DK8202 System Hub, the Dukosi API and C-SynQ. The Cell Monitors make accurate, synchronous, on-cell measurements, process the data, and send it to the BMS Host via the System Hub. Dukosi’s proprietary C-SynQ communication protocol provides bidirectional communication using a single bus antenna between the System Hub and the Cell Monitor network, which is managed by the System Hub and Dukosi’s API. On-cell monitoring and data storage provides lifetime traceability and supports Battery Passport regulations. This novel architecture overcomes the limitations of traditional wired systems without the drawbacks of far field wireless solutions.
