EEA shortlist: CELUS
CELUS’s Design Platform has been shortlisted for the Electronics Excellence Awards under the Software Product category.
The CELUS Design Platform transforms traditional electronics design workflows into an automated, data-driven process. By combining intelligent design automation with reusable circuit modules, it reduces time-to-market, improves design accuracy, and enhances efficiency across the entire product development lifecycle. This integrated approach benefits both engineers and manufacturers, driving innovation while ensuring technical robustness in electronic product design.
The platform operates through four critical stages: Capture, Evaluate, Validate, and Handover. In the Capture phase, engineers input technical requirements such as voltage thresholds, interfaces, and other technical constrains. This data forms the foundation for an automated design process, ensuring that all specifications are accurately accounted for from the start.
During the Evaluate phase, the platform intelligently matches the captured requirements with components and circuit modules from its extensive library. This includes CUBOs, or Digital Datasheets, which are digital, EDA-ready representations of circuits. Unlike traditional datasheets, CUBOs encapsulate all necessary design data, including schematics, Bills of Materials (BOM), layouts, and functional specifications. They are developed in collaboration with manufacturers, making it easier for engineers to integrate them directly into their designs without starting from scratch, which significantly reduces development time and potential errors.
The Validate phase enables users to verify their design choices by providing direct access to relevant datasheets and leveraging CUBOt, the platform’s AI assistant. The platform supports engineers in validating their solutions by quickly identifying critical component information such as electrical characteristics, thermal limits, and interface requirements. CUBOt streamlines this process by extracting key data from datasheets, allowing engineers to cross-reference specifications efficiently and ensure their selected CUBOs meet the project’s technical requirements. This approach reduces the time typically spent manually searching through documentation while enhancing the accuracy of design validation.
In the final Handover phase, the platform generates comprehensive design outputs, including schematics, BOMs and CAD files. These outputs are formatted for seamless integration with industry-standard EDA tools, facilitating a smooth transition from design to manufacturing. This ensures that all stakeholders, from design teams to manufacturing partners, have access to consistent, prototype-ready documentation.
For design engineers, the CELUS Design Platform reduces development time by automating repetitive tasks such as schematic creation and component selection. This allows engineers to focus on innovation and system optimisation rather than manual design iterations. The interaction with CUBOt ensures that potential issues are identified and resolved early in the design process, improving design reliability and reducing the likelihood of costly post-production modifications.
For component manufacturers, integrating products as CUBOs increases visibility within the platform. This makes their components more accessible to engineers during the design phase, enhancing adoption rates.
