Z-Wave Alliance announces appoints new Directors to board

The newly elected Z-Wave Alliance Board of Directors for 2024, representing various segments of the connected home and IoT industry, are as follows:

• Chairman of the Board: Avi Rosenthal, bluesalve partners
• Vice Chairman of the Board: Gustaf Lonaeus, Alarm.com
• Treasurer: Kevin Kraus, Fortune Brands Innovation
• Secretary: Bill Scheffler, Trident IoT
• Chair Emeritus: Jonathan Adams, Amazon
• Directors: Jake Alamat (Silicon Labs), Lisa Corte (ASSA ABLOY), Geoff Cummings (Johnson Controls Inc.), Scott Laing (Vivint), John Osborne (Lexi Devices), Andrew Weir (ADT)

The Alliance also acknowledged Mitch Klein for his dedication and service as Executive Director. In recognition of Klein's contributions, the board unanimously decided to retire his board position in his honour.

Avi Rosenthal, Chairman of the Board, commented on the transformational year for Z-Wave and the Alliance. Key achievements in 2023 included ratifying Z-Wave as open-source technology, expanding certification laboratories, and creating new membership levels. Rosenthal noted that the Alliance is just beginning its journey.

Significant progress was made in 2023 regarding Z-Wave's open-source initiative. The Z-Wave Source Code project was released on GitHub, supervised by the Open-Source Work Group. It saw over 100 users from 30 member companies and more than 130,000 lines of code added or modified, marking a milestone in collaborative development for Z-Wave.

The Z-Wave Certification program also saw impressive growth in 2023, with 160 new Z-Wave devices, including 50 Z-Wave Long Range devices, achieving certification. This brings the total number of certified interoperable Z-Wave devices to over 4,400.

For 2024, the Z-Wave Alliance plans two major events:

• April 30 - May 2, 2024: Z-Wave Alliance Summit and Unplug Fest in Austin, TX
• October 21-23, 2024: Z-Wave Alliance Summit in Seoul, Korea

These events will offer opportunities for face-to-face interaction among members and discussions on the latest developments in Z-Wave technology.
