Marco Gerhard becomes ELTEC's new Managing Director
Marco Gerhard was appointed Managing Director of ELTEC Elektronik in mid-November. The company is a business unit of Westermo and part of the listed Swedish Beijer Group.
He succeeds Peter Albert, who took over the management of the Mainz-based technology company more than 10 years ago and will now devote himself to new tasks. The new CEO Marco Gerhard brings a lot of industry experience with him due to his previous career: He knows the current customer and market requirements and has a sound, technically-oriented sales know-how. Among other things, he is responsible for new and further developments in the area of digital network solutions and for accelerating sales of the Eltec product portfolio, including wireless access points, 5G routers and gateways, data loggers and Ethernet switches.
Marco Gerhard, who studied business administration and industrial engineering in Heidelberg, has acquired his experience and knowledge of sales, business development, corporate management, and strategy in many challenging professional positions, including Key Account Manager at SMA Solar Technology and Director Sales & Service at Exide Technologies. Since 2016, Marco Gerhard has been part of the global Westermo management team as Managing Director of Westermo Data Communications, the group's largest sales subsidiary based in Waghäusel near Karlsruhe, and is responsible for Germany as well as the subsidiaries in Austria and Switzerland.
Since March 2021, Eltec has also been part of Westermo, a company specializing in data communication products for mission critical systems. With around 380 employees and sales and support offices throughout Europe, USA, Singapore, China, and Australia, Westermo, based in Västerås, Sweden, specializes in robust and reliable network solutions.
Marco Gerhard, who was responsible for the integration of Eltec into the Westermo Group and, as Vice President for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, has already taken over the overall management of Eltec, Westermo Neratec and Westermo in Germany from April 2022, says of his new position as CEO of Eltec: "My experience as Integration Manager will play an important role in the closer integration of Westermo and Eltec. Synergy effects can be released here that will help us to advance developments even more efficiently. An important point will be the future design of the product portfolio, especially the focus on a future-oriented and sustainable portfolio of Westermo Wireless Competence Centres within the "WeGrow" growth strategy in the areas of on-board connectivity and trackside. With regard to the market developments of wireless technologies in the railway environment, I am convinced that we will be able to tap into even more potential in the future and position ourselves even more successfully in the market as a solution provider."
