Exel Composites hires new UK Regional Sales Manager
Global composites manufacturer, Exel Composites has bolstered its UK business by hiring Steve Cook as the United Kingdom and Ireland Regional Sales Manager. Cook will help to increase business opportunities and connect closely with existing customers.
From its UK facility in Runcorn, Cheshire, Cook will add to Exel Composites’ regional sales team, handling new business leads and advising customers on the benefits and solutions of composites materials.
Cook joins the UK team with a history in materials expertise. After graduating from Sheffield University with a degree in mechanical engineering, Cook spent most of his career working in engineering and managerial roles. In 1994, he began working for US glass composite manufacturer, Owens Corning. Cook then became co-founder of a property development company, before venturing back into industry as sales manager and business development manager for metal powder manufacturer, Carpenter Additive. Cook’s sales experience spans the globe, and he has managed activities in regions including Scandinavia, Spain and Benelux for multinational organisations.
“My experience goes beyond engineering and sales, with product management, manufacturing and material knowledge all forming part of my skillset,” said Cook. “Composites are gaining traction across industry, but what they can be used to manufacture is little understood. I have a proven track record of success in new business development and these skills will allow me to inform and support composites customers in the UK.
“Although I have experience in the composites industry, I’m still astounded by the range of novel applications that the team is developing at Exel. Each day I cannot wait to see what new project the team is working on.”
“Appointing Stephen is crucial for the continued growth of the business,” explained Francesco Ierullo, Head of Sales South and West Europe & IMEA at Exel Composites. “With a strong sales background in the engineering sector, robust technical knowledge and beneficial familiarity with the composites industry, I’m certain that he can support the UK and Ireland with continued growth and development.”
