Exel Composites appoints regional sales manager

Bordi, who has spent over 20 years working for industrial companies across Finland, has joined Exel Composites with an established background in account and project management, solutions sales and engineering in telecommunications, industrial electronics and safety and security business areas.

Bordi completed a master’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1998 at the University of Oulu, Finland, minoring in industrial engineering, management and electronics manufacturing. Part of his studies were completed as a transfer student in Tennessee Technological University, Tennessee USA between 1995 and1996.

During and after his studies, Bordi worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer for Filtronic, a telecommunications antennae manufacturer, where he managed mobile phone antenna projects.

After working at Rapiscan Systems and Oxford Instrument Analysis in R&D project management, Bordi ventured into the defense sector in 2009 as Program Manager for Savox Communications, a provider of communications and hearing solutions for global security and military use. After three years in this role, Bordi was appointed as Sales and Project Director where he managed domestic and international sales until 2019.

His most recent role as Regional Account Director at microsatellite manufacturer ICEYE involved handling sales, business development and key account management. Now, Bordi takes on a new regional role supporting and increasing sales in Finland, Russia and the Baltic states for Exel Composites.

“While mechanical engineering has given me relevant skills and insight that has thoroughly supported my past career successes, a role of this scale requires more than engineering expertise”, said Mika Bordi, Regional Sales Manager for Finland, Russia and the Baltics at Exel Composites. “Working in several industries has allowed me to understand how to determine the correct solutions to fit the customer. And as the new Regional Sales Manager for this area, this is a crucial factor of my job role that will help boost Exel’s profile in these sales regions.

“Composites are multi-beneficial and can be used for many purposes, and in many sectors of manufacturing. For example, they can be used for wind turbine blades, weight reduction in transportation and for telecommunications radomes — all products requiring emphasis on different material properties. This is where I’ll be able to apply my experience working in telecommunications, helping to advise on the correct composite solution for one of Exel Composites’ growing business areas.”
