3M will use BETT 2008, the international educational information and communications technology (ICT) event, as a platform to preview an innovative range of digital projection products for the first time anywhere in the world. The new products will address projector safety and security issues, as well as the need for a more cost-effective approach to AV equipment in the classroom.
3M has pioneered developments in super close projection technology for six years and continues to stay ahead of the curve by listening to the voice of the customer and responding with new, improved products tailored specifically for their requirements. Vikuiti Super Close Projection technology was first introduced by 3M in 2001 and had a profound impact on the AV industry for its ability to project large, brilliantly crisp images from incredibly short distances and extreme angles. Fundamental benefits include minimised lamp glare and shadow interference when users are working in front of the screen.

“With Decision Tree Consulting predicting that 48% of interactive whiteboards will have short throw projection integrated into them by 20111, 3M is in a good position to maintain its technology and market advantage,” commented Paul Gardner, Business Development Manager, 3M Visual Systems. “Our length of experience in the industry and respected customer references, combined with our product development expertise, enables us to help education establishments and authorities to get the very best from their AV technology today and in the future.”

The recently launched Digital Media System (DMS) 810 Series projector will also feature on the 3M stand. The DMS810 combines Vikuiti Super Close Projection technology with a built-in digital annotation pod to turn almost any surface into a digital whiteboard or large interactive computer display. Its adjustable telescopic arm allows presenters to project images from a 50 inch to 85 inch diagonal. This avoids difficult ceiling-mounted installation, eliminates any untidy cables, minimises shadowing and virtually eliminates lamp glare when the presenter is working in front of the screen.
