Volex Works In Partnership With Huawei To Supply Broadband Equipment To Telecoms Operator OI In Brazil
Volex Group plc, the global electrical and electronic cable assemblies group, has been selected by global telecom solutions provider Huawei, to deliver copper broadband cable assemblies to form part of the broadband infrastructure equipment the company supplies to telecommunications provider Oi for its operations in Brazil. Volex will manufacture 100% of the 25,600 cable assemblies required as part of the larger solution delivered by Huawei to enable Oi to provide over half a million new subscribers with broadband between now and the end of October 2010.
DemaThe National Broadband Plan has the aim of making broadband affordable for lower income families and available across 95% of Brazil’s municipalities. Broadband providers are therefore now, more than ever, looking to suppliers for value for money and exceptionally high quality products that allow them to compete in a rapidly-evolving and fiercely competitive market and support the government’s goals.
Through the long-term global relationship between Huawei with Volex and with the company’s previous experience of working in Brazil, Volex is ideally positioned to supply Huawei with the cable assemblies needed to help meet the demands of Oi. The flexibility and quality of the Volex product delivery means Huawei can provide high quality equipment that ensures Oi will continue to use Huawei’s services after the initial order has been completed.
Ali Zoghbi, General Manager of Volex Brazil adds, “Volex was selected by Huawei to supply all of the twisted pair copper cable assemblies for the Oi deal because of its global reputation for delivering competitively priced bespoke cable assemblies to tight deadlines and budgets, whilst maintaining the highest standards in product quality and performance.”
Zoghbi continues, “We are pleased to be working with Huawei on another project and are committed to supporting the company in its provision of broadband services to Brazilian telecommunications companies as the country strives towards providing the appropriate infrastructure for 80 million broadband users come the World Cup in 2014, followed by the Olympics in 2016.”
Jeff Bierman, Senior VP, Volex Group, comments, “Volex’s partnership with Huawei Brazil is encouraging evidence of a mutually beneficial relationship that continues to bear fruit globally. The South American telecoms market is rapidly-evolving, and one we are pleased to be heavily involved in. By remaining engaged with the design, development and manufacturing process, Volex is able to contribute to solving the issues that telecom companies in Brazil are facing as they strive to provide lower income families with an efficient and affordable broadband service over the next few years.”
