Volex launches RF coil cable production for healthcare equipment in China
Volex plc has commenced the production of radio frequency (RF) coil cable assemblies at its factory in Suzhou, China for use in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems. The factory was awarded the ISO 13485 standard for quality management systems in the manufacturing of medical devices earlier this year.
This“Having RF coil cable assemblies in our portfolio here in China is giving us more flexibility to react quickly to changing requirements of our customers throughout Asia”, says John Conroy, VP Healthcare at Volex. “The additional production capacity underlines the company’s commitment to growing our business in this sector and region.
“RF coil cables are a very complex component”, adds Conroy. “ As the connection between the patient coil and the MRI system they have a key role in image quality in the MRI scanning process.”
Linda Starr, SVP at Volex, concludes “The Healthcare market continues to be a key area of revenue growth for Volex, and we continue to work with industry-leading customers to deliver a product portfolio that puts us at the forefront of innovation and demonstrates the company’s commitment to be a supplier that delivers real added value to its business partners.”
RF coil cables are key components in MRI scanners and are designed specifically to fit each new device. Volex’s design engineers work closely with the OEMs’ design engineers to ensure the cables perform to the highest standards.
