Volex Group becomes Volex
Volex Group plc, the global provider of electrical, digital and optical interconnect solutions, has announced that it will change the name of the company to Volex plc.
The resolution to change the name from ‘Volex Group’ to ‘Volex’ was proposed and accepted at the AGM in London on 25 July 2011. The new name has been effective from 11 August 2011.
Buil“Volex is now a tightly integrated company operating in a global marketplace,” said Volex CEO Ray Walsh. “Our customers around the world value our flexibility and responsiveness. Volex is a truly global brand and our customers and partners trust us to deliver on this promise. We feel that, because we are acting as one company worldwide, the company name should reflect this.”
Changing the name is the culmination of a transformation the company has undergone in recent years to meet the expectations of its customers to engage them in a globally coordinated manner. This transformation is driven by a business strategy to manage the whole organisation as a single enterprise rather than a group of affiliated local companies.
Walsh explained: “A large number of our customers develop and manufacture their products internationally and they need suppliers who can engage locally with design engineers, and can manufacture locally to their own operations, while all the time achieving the exact same product quality and supply chain benefits independent of geography.”
The change of name reflects one homogenous Volex worldwide, able to design-in interconnects and cable assemblies from relatively simple power cords with many regional variations through to 100Gigabit/s data and the most complex multifunction cable assemblies. And also a company completely geared to providing major supply chain efficiencies to customers by being able to source and supply them exactly as required with a global footprint matching the customers’ own.
