Uralsvyazinform and Huawei Deployed Test All-IP Network
Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, and Uralsvyazinform, a universal communication provider and subsidiary of Svyazinvest, signed a memorandum on the deployment of a test All-IP network based on IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) technology.
IMS A number of tests will be implemented on the IMS network. The final decision regarding construction of a commercial All-IP network will be determined based on test results. The tests will include interconnection tests (CSCF) with subscriber access equipment of the mobile network, fixed network, and broadband data transmission network. Another test will focus on the functionality of the joint operation between Huawei' s IMS network and equipment from other manufacturers.
For our company, it is important that IMS can manage traffic notwithstanding of the types of subscriber devices and the 'last mile' adopted. Thanks to this IMS solution, Uralsvyazinform may achieve effective convergence of the existing fixed, mobile and data transmission networks. Thus, on the one hand, the company may substantially reduce its operating expenses by replacing its outdated multi-type equipment for a unified solution. On the other hand, IMS brings additional revenue by offering convergent new generation services to the subscribers,said Mikhail Krimskiy, chief deputy of the CEO of OJSC, Uralsvyazinform.
This IMS project, implemented in cooperation with Uralsvyazinform, is the largest project of this kind ever to be implemented in Russia and CIS. In order to implement this project Huawei plans to start production of IMS equipment in its own production facility in Ufa, Russia.
