UL Awards the First Uninterruptible Power Supply Product ENERGY STAR Certificate
UL recently announced that it awarded the first uninterruptible power supply ENERGY STAR certificate to APC by Schneider Electric. UL is the first third-party certification authority to award UPS products the ENERGY STAR certificate, which further establishes its status as a leader in the field of global energy efficiency and APC is the first manufacturer to obtain the UPS ENERGY STAR certificate by UL.
In aAPC has long been advocates of UPS products with green energy, efficiency and innovation. The fact that UL awarded the first UPS product ENERGY STAR certificate for APC demonstrates its determination to pursue sustainable development and is also testimony of its long-term strategy in the field of energy efficiency, said Michael Shows, global business manager for energy efficiency, UL Verification Services.
In recent years, UL has been accelerating the expansion the testing and certification in the field of energy efficiency services and capabilities, including the extension to UPS products, which also help enhance the authority and popularity of the ENERGY STAR program and advocacy of energy saving and environmental protection. Focused on the UPS ENERGY STAR program, UL started a multi-dimensional research effort from staff training and instrument validation test report formulation, to certification plan research and actual testing operations. On August 1st, 2012, UL unveiled its research findings to the market for the first time.

In the future, UL will continue to cooperate with UPS product manufacturers including APC and provide integrated and comprehensive solutions,” Shows added.
