UK tech-clusters strengthen links to support innovation
Two of the UK’s leading tech-cluster organisations, Innovation Martlesham (IM) and Cambridge Wireless (CW), have agreed to strengthen links and increase collaboration to help drive further innovation in the wireless and ICT industry and support new tech start-ups as well as more established mobile and ICT businesses.
The new partnership will include a membership exchange along with more networking, mentoring and knowledge sharing activities, giving access to a diverse range of skills, experience and services. The move to bring the two organisations closer together has been driven by Ian Buxton and Nicky Daniels, Chairman and Head, respectively, of Innovation Martlesham, and Bob Driver, CEO, CW.
Driver commented: “The success of CW is borne out of its members and the ability to stimulate debate, harness knowledge, encourage collaboration and build business connections, so it makes perfect sense to work closely with other industry clusters such as Innovation Martlesham."
“There is a great synergy between our two organisations and we share a strong commitment to keep the UK at the forefront of ICT and wireless innovation. The membership exchange programme between CW and IM will be the first stage in linking the two organisations and building a long-term, fruitful relationship," added Daniels.
With headquarters in Cambridge, CW already partners with other industry clusters and organisations to extend its reach and remain at the forefront of global developments and business opportunities. Over 400 CW member companies, based throughout the UK and internationally, are drawn from all parts of the wireless enabled world, from securely connected devices, networks, smart phones, software and applications, through to data analytics, content delivery, telecomms and satellites.
Innovation Martlesham is an established cluster of over 80 high-tech ICT companies located at Adastral Park, Martlesham Heath in Suffolk. Besides being home to a diverse range of large, medium and small companies, Innovation Martlesham is a ‘collaborative ecosystem’ for technology companies. It provides physical and virtual office accommodation to support the demand from businesses and hosts networking opportunities and events, has a Business Support Function and a Mentor Group and an ICT Business Incubator.
