Tyco Electronics And Redwood Systems Establish Strategic Collaboration For Energy-Efficient Lighting Platform
Tyco Electronics, a leader in precision-engineered electronics, and Redwood Systems, a manufacturer of network-based lighting power and control systems, today announced a strategic collaboration to pioneer Redwood Systems’ new lighting platform in the commercial lighting market.
The Tyco Electronics will collaborate with Redwood Systems on a comprehensive solutions package, which includes a combination of the company’s core competencies, for integration into this high-level system. The package will provide the foundational infrastructure necessary to enable, as well as complement, the lighting system -- such as commercial-premises structured cabling systems, circuit protection devices and interconnect systems.
“Tyco Electronics is synonymous with innovation and has always been at the forefront of technology adoption,” says Dave Leonard, cofounder and chief executive officer of Redwood Systems. “For these reasons, we knew that they would be a strong ally in helping bring Redwood’s platform to market. The invaluable relationships that we develop with Tyco Electronics and our other strategic allies will accelerate our product’s adoption rate and help more customers reduce their lighting costs and improve building performance.”
“We are excited to work with Redwood Systems in helping them establish and commercialize their unique, energy-efficient lighting platform,” says Rob Rix, vice president of lighting, Tyco Electronics. “Our extensive knowledge in interconnect and Solid State Lighting (SSL) packaging, coupled with Redwood’s technology will create a sensational product.”
The platform is composed of three discrete elements that work in concert to create a programmable “building fabric.” The three components include the Redwood engine, a central driver that provides and modulates power; the Redwood adapter, a group of sensors at each light fixture; and the Redwood wall switch. The system, connected with Tyco Electronics low-voltage cabling, facilitates “plug-and-play” behavior to reduce installation time.
