TI puts energy behind Solar Power as contributing sponsor for Solar Decathlon
Texas Instruments is a Contributing Sponsor for the 2007 Solar Decathlon, which is put on by the United States Department of Energy. The bi-annual event brings together 20 university and college teams from around the globe in a competition to design, build and operate the most attractive, energy-efficient solar-powered homes. The teams come together to form a “solar village” on the National Mall in Washington D.C. The Decathlon’s goal is to engage young innovators to advance solar technology and reduce the cost of solar-powered homes. Many teams competing in the Decathlon are using Texas Instruments technology – which helps solar inverters achieve maximum system efficiency and cost-effectiveness – in their designs.
As tThe Solar Decathlon will run October 12 – 20, and team houses will be open for public tours during specified hours. On October 17 at 1:00 p.m., TI’s Sustainable Development Manager, Paul Westbrook, will present a workshop in the Main Tent that will focus on sustainability at home and in the office.
