The Central Research Laboratory (CRL) is once again open for applications to the Accelerator programme. Part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the programme supports the next generation of product-focused entrepreneurs, helping them to develop crucial areas of their business to help ‘accelerate’ growth and production.

The candidates previously selected for the programme represent some of the most exciting and diverse product-focused entrepreneurs in the UK. Companies come from many sectors including ‘Internet of Things’ and wearable technology to educational toys to robotics.

As part of their involvement in the programme, the successful entrepreneurs will receive a start-up grant, access to our specialist prototyping workshops, support from in-house experts, dedicated sessions with a large range of industry experts and support to raise seed funding.

“We are proud to be focused on supporting the aspirations of product-focused entrepreneurs who are eager to scale their designs into credible businesses. The CRL prides itself on being at the heart of innovation and we are looking forward to helping grow and develop some of the most exciting new hardware-focused companies in the UK” said Mandy Nyarko, Accelerator Programme Lead.

Businesses that have found success through previous rounds of the CRL Accelerator programme include Aceleron, JOTO, Do It Kits, Mimica Labs, among many other. These companies have gone on to raise substantial investment, and the founders recognised through winning entrepreneurial awards. Ventures currently on the programme include Bright Sign, Third Skin, Odd Ball and ULTRA IoT.

“We are thrilled to have produced some real success stories and to have been a valuable part of the journey for the people that we have worked with. Many entrepreneurs have great ideas, but can find it difficult to gain knowledge, experience and contacts in product, marketing and business development. The Accelerator programme helps bridge that gap and fast forward their business.” Nyarko continued.

The launch will coincide with Global Entrepreneurship Week and the Accelerator team are looking forward to seeing the new cohort #MakeHistory.

CRL share that they are looking forward to seeing the new cohort #MakeHistory.
