Synaptics Inc today announced a collaboration with CMI (Chimei Innolux), a leading TFT-LCD manufacturer, to bring Synaptics’ industry leading In-Cell ClearPad 4260 to market. Synaptics and CMI will leverage their industry leading core capabilities to deliver a cutting edge 4-inch WVGA In-Cell touch display to smartphone OEMs. Synaptics’ ClearPad 4260 integrated touch and display driver (TDDI) will be combined with CMI’s advanced LCD low-temperature polysilicon LTPS display to deliver another market leading capacitive touch solution.
Synaptics, with their long history of industry firsts, is the only In-Cell provider in mass production today. The ClearPad 4260 CMI In-Cell display is available for demonstration at SID 2012 and ready for mass production in Q4 2012.

The ClearPad 4260 is supported by Synaptics’ Design Studio™4 (DS4), which offers the most advanced and comprehensive touch system tool in the market. DS4 accelerates the development cycle by enabling customers to evaluate and optimize the performance of their touch experience and efficiently implement their custom ClearPad sensor solution.

“Synaptics is proud to collaborate with CMI to deliver innovative Series 4 solutions to market,” said Kevin Barber, senior vice president and general manager, Handheld Division. “CMI’s confidence in collaborating with Synaptics to develop and market In-Cell Series 4 solutions is another proof point of our commitment to delivering industry firsts to the mobile market.”

“Integrating capacitive touch into CMI displays is the next step in increasing value for our customers that demand the latest technologies for their products,” said Andre Krebbers, vice president of CMI. “Partnering with an industry leader such as Synaptics was an easy choice for us as we strive to serve the unique needs of different customers worldwide.”
