Spirent Communications continues to gain industry recognition for its market-leading approach to advancing cloud computing testing. At the recent 2010 NetEvents EMEA Press Summit in Istanbul, Turkey, Spirent was named the ‘Most Innovative Technology Company of the Year’ and also received the ‘Most Innovative Test & Measurement Product of the Year’ award for its Spirent Avalanche Virtual solution.
An independent panel of industry analysts, senior technology editors and reporters from around the globe confirmed that virtualized data center efficiency and security are critical issues to many organizations. They also recognized that Spirent’s testing solution enables equipment manufacturers, service providers and enterprises to address these issues with a simple to use, flexible and powerful performance test solution. The judges found Spirent Avalanche Virtual to be an innovative and extremely significant answer to the challenges of determining the security of a virtual environment, while offering the capability to scale to millions of users.

“Many enterprises are increasingly thinking of joining the cloud computing bandwagon for its obvious benefits,” said Zafar Anjum, editor, Computerworld Singapore & Computerworld Malaysia. “Spirent Avalanche Virtual provides an innovative test solution that can help companies emulate real user traffic and much more in cloud environments. This innovation is important as it helps navigate this emerging technology.”

Spirent Avalanche Virtual is the industry’s first solution to test the Performance, Availability, Security and Scalability (PASS) of virtualized network appliances, as well as cloud-based applications across public, private and hybrid cloud environments. With Spirent Avalanche Virtual, enterprises and cloud service providers can validate that a cloud computing architecture is delivering the business benefits of elastic computing without degrading user experience.

“Spirent’s unique test methodology, based on validating the performance, availability, security and scalability attributes of networks and applications, provides our customers with the confidence to leverage a new generation of networking technologies,” said Jeff Schmitz, vice president, Networks & Applications group at Spirent. “We’re honored that not only our customers but a group of objective editor and analyst judges have recognized the significant role our solutions play within the industry.”

The NetEvents Technology Leader Award is an annual event, open to all suppliers of networking or telecommunications products or services launched and delivered prior to the NetEvents Press Summit each year. The awards ceremony has become a highlight of the Summit, and is a non-profit activity, with all proceeds going to charity. More than $100,000 has already been generated by the awards, and this year’s proceeds are being donated to The Prostate Project Foundation & KECK School of Medicine at USC.

“Spirent deserves much credit for its work in the cloud and receiving two awards is particularly impressive considering the strong competition,” said Mark Fox, CEO, NetEvents. “With the industry’s best and brightest analyst and media gathered under one roof, these awards have become a coveted badge of excellence.”
