SmartKem Launches Ink Evaluation Kit for ‘Flexible’ Thin Film Transistors
SmartKem Limited today announced the launch of a pioneering ink evaluation kit which utilises the company’s scientific expertise to significantly streamline the process of producing prototype flexible thin film transistors (TFTs). Forming part of SmartKem’s newly launched ‘p-FLEX’’ portfolio of high mobility, flexible semiconductor solutions, the development kit will allow companies to use SmartKem’s unique knowledge and intellectual property to create high mobility, best-in-class TFT devices with a focus on flexible displays for use in smartphones and tablets. As part of the offering, SmartKem will also provide clients with industry-leading technical support and consultation throughout their development processes.
BaseSteve Kelly, CEO at SmartKem comments, “As a leading semiconductor specialist in the flexible electronics industry, the new kit will allow us to share our in-depth knowledge with our customers and partners to allow them to create prototype flexible TFTs through proven methods. We not only offer high quality organic semiconductor inks to manufacturers, but also ensure that they are being used correctly and that they are integrated seamlessly into processes with continued guidance and expertise from the team. The kits can be customised for each unique customer, regardless of their experience in the field.”
From molecule design to market application, SmartKem strives to provide its customers with technology solutions that achieve quick results without the need to set up new processes and materials. High performance, low cost flexible transistors are a critical success factor in the commercialisation of products such as flexible smartphones and tablets. The company’s aim is to work closely with customers in these markets to enable the practical adoption of this ground-breaking new technology in the near future.
SmartKem’s p-FLEX portfolio of flexible, p-type organic semiconductors present a myriad of benefits over alternative materials offering higher electronic mobility, ease of integration into existing production methods and low-temperature solution processing.
