Siano Continues to Drive China’s Automotive Mobile TV Market
Siano is pleased to announce its recent partnership with BYD, China’s foremost independent automobile manufacturer, to integrate Siano-powered entertainment systems into select BYD car models. Starting Q1 2013, two of BYD’s newer models, the BYD S6 and the Surai compact sedan will be equipped with state-of-the-art multimedia/infotainment systems with mobile DTV powered by Siano.
IncoBYD’s in-car digital TV receiver units are powered by Siano’s CMMB (China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting) receiver chipset, the SMS1180, part of the CMMB family of winning MDTV IC’s. The SMS1180, designed exclusively for the automotive market, is an optimized solution that meets the requirements of the automotive market, fully qualified by AEC-Q100 certification. With a single-chip solution for MRC diversity, a must for automotive applications, the SMS1180 delivers a winning combination of high-speed mobility and flexibility. Further, it is the most adopted CMMB chip by automobile OEMs where Siano occupies a 90% share of the automotive OEM market.
“With the type of customers we serve, we cannot compromise on quality. This is what made Siano’s receiver units the right choice for us,” said Yu-bo Lian, Vice President, Chief Engineer, Automobile Business, General Manager, Thirteenth Business Division at BYD. We tested the units under extreme mobility conditions and the results were exceptionally good. The future holds a growing demand for in-car digital TV solutions and we welcome Siano as long term collaborative partner.”
Since entering the Chinese market in 2006, Siano has taken great pride in being part of the multimedia and infotainment systems for market leaders such as BYD,” comments Wang Wei, General Manager, Siano China. “Recent test results showed that CMMB reception was flawless, the picture was clear and sound quality was exceptionally good, even under extreme mobility conditions. This is testimony to Siano’s position as a driving force in China’s CMMB market.”
