SCHURTER acquires aki electronic
As of 1st January 2017, SCHURTER Holding AG acquires the Czech aki electronic, a manufacturer of keyboards, touch panels and HMI systems. The acquisition of aki offers an increase in production capacity, an increase in know-how and a geographical expansion of the activities in Eastern Europe.
The aki electronic, spol.s r.o. based in Jihlava/CZ, has been producing high-quality input devices for industrial applications, automation industries and medical appliances with its 200 employees since 1992. The Czech manufacturer is active in the core market of Germany/Austria as well s in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Since 1998, aki has been ISO 9001 certified; the area of production since 2015 even ISO 13485 (Medical Standard). In 2015, aki electronic realized consolidated sales of around EUR 9 million.
The SCHURTER Group, headquartered in Lucerne (Switzerland), which is active in the electronics industry, now employs around 1850 people worldwide. In 2015, it achieved consolidated sales of CHF 191.4 million with its divisions Components and Input Systems. For over 40 years SCHURTER has been developing, producing and marketing input systems, touch screens and panels, capacitive keyboards, foil keypads, housing and control systems in close cooperation with its customers.
The purchase and integration of aki into the division Input Systems offers several advantages for the SCHURTER Group: the geographic expansion to Eastern Europe as well as a further strengthening of the already processed DACH market for input systems. Added to this is the advantage of the production site of the Czech Republic with high quality awareness (Medical Standard ISO 13485) at attractive production costs.
