Samsung Chooses PLX PCI Express Gen 2 Switch, USB 2.0 Controller for New CLX Multifunction Printer Family
PLX Technology and Samsung Electronics, a global leader in semiconductor, telecommunication, digital media and digital convergence technologies, today announced that two different PLX® interconnect devices are enabling the high-performance PCI Express (PCIe) and USB connectivity designed into Samsung's new MultiXpress CLX color multifunction laser printers. PLX's PCIe switching technology helped Samsung deploy its first PCIe-based printer design, resulting in higher-speed scanning and copying functions, while the PLX USB device enables a high-speed external connection for plug-and-play efficiency.
SamsThe PLX ExpressLane PEX 8608 is an eight-lane, eight-port PCIe Gen 2 (5.0 GT/s) switch that provides Samsung CLX multifunction printers with the high-performance core connectivity needed in its key internal components -- including the processor, scanner, fax and printer functions -- while simultaneously enabling backward compatibility with its legacy PCI endpoints. The PLX OXU210HP is a local bus to Hi-Speed USB host and Hi-Speed USB peripheral/On-the-Go controller device that provides users of the CLX with fast and easy USB direct access to its premium functions.
The CLX multifunction printers from Samsung are efficient and reliable with excellent productivity features for the fast-paced workplace. The CLX family offers the fastest color digital multifunction printers in the market today, while maintaining their eco-friendly design to reduce energy costs. Samsung CLX products make print jobs and scanned documents easy to process, store, navigate, and protect.
We are very pleased that Samsung chose PLX PCI Express and USB solutions for its high-speed connectivity needs, said Gene Schaeffer, vice president of worldwide sales at PLX. Both companies are leaders in their respective markets and we look forward to continuing to serve Samsung's challenging interconnect needs.
