RS Components celebrates e-commerce success
RS Components has achieved its UK Internet sales target three months ahead of schedule. The company’s December figures show 50.2% online orders across all divisions, just over the 50% goal it set nearly three years ago, originally to be accomplished by April 2009.
This“While this is a fantastic way to begin the year and is a significant achievement, we will continue to maintain and improve the service to meet our customers’ needs and our own targets,” commented Nik Patel, Marketing Manager e-Commerce at RS. “This success is one we are very proud of and demonstrates the importance of the website as a business channel to our customers.”
This achievement is a reflection of the continual addition of products available only on the website and the introduction of the new production packaging service launched online in May 2008. The service is flagged for easy identification allowing customers to view packaging format, set the quantity required, check live stock levels, and place orders online.
RS re-launched its website, rswww.com, in early 2008 to accommodate an upgraded search and navigation engine. This enables electronics designers and maintenance engineers to save time and reduce their purchase costs when researching, selecting and ordering products. The improved clarity of the new site also enables RS to implement new services efficiently and enables the company to maximise the availability of these services and products to its customers.
The success of the site’s upgrade has contributed in no small way to the growing customer support, which is reflected in these latest sales figures.
