Renesas Electronics Honoured with Volkswagen Group Award 2012
Renesas Electronics Europe, a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, today announced that the Volkswagen Group has recognized its customer orientation and support with the 2012 supplier award. Renesas Electronics was also commended for maintaining supply chain reliability during the Japanese earthquake disaster of March 2011. The Volkswagen Group Award 2012 was presented by Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, and Dr. Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, Member of the Group Board of Management with responsibility for Procurement.
The The Volkswagen Group Award is presented to selected suppliers, with the criteria including innovative strength, product quality, development expertise and competent project management. Initiatives to improve efficiency and environmental compatibility also rank as one of the main criteria in the selection process. Prof. Dr. Winterkorn, in his speech to the 18 award winners, underlined the importance of their contribution in implementing the group’s MQB strategy, while Dr. Garcia Sanz noted that the partners’ products would be used worldwide as the MQB strategy is extended throughout the group. The MQB enables the Volkswagen Group to design a wide range of car models with transverse engines based on the same set of component characteristics, such as the mounting position of the engine.
“Renesas Electronics is honoured to be one of the premium suppliers working on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB as well as for the award,” commented Yoichi Yano, Executive Vice President and Member of the Board at Renesas Electronics Corporation. “Volkswagen is an innovation leader in the automotive sector, which is of key strategic importance to us here at Renesas Electronics.”
