Qt enables small companies to deliver products across all platforms
The Qt Company has announced the availability of a new offering that will enable small and start-up companies to harness the full power of the Qt application and UI development framework in their products. The Qt Start-Up plan’s license terms entitle companies with an annual revenue of less than $100,000 to make full use of Qt for Application Development in products with the freedom to target all supported desktop and mobile platforms and sell them under terms and conditions of their own choosing.
The Qt Start-Up package is just as powerful as the regular Qt for Application Development package and available at a much lower price; the first year cost of an annual term subscription equates to only $49 per month, when purchased under the introductory offer. The regular price on the annual term subscription is equivalent to $79 per month. There is also a fully flexible solution with month-to-month payment available for the price of $99 per month. This new offering is available for purchase together with the Qt 5.6 release during March through the self-service online store.
Qt has always been a very accessible technology and continues to be used under an open source license by hundreds of thousands of developers. Now, as many people want to incorporate Qt in their own products and make these available across multiple platforms, there is an increasing requirement to choose the distribution licensing freely through the commercial offering. The Qt Start-up offering extends this opportunity to large numbers of new and fledgling companies by offering a flexible and extremely low-cost entry route.
Petteri Holländer, Head of Product Management, The Qt Company, commented: “Qt forms an integral part of products from many major global corporations in a wide variety of industries. With the Qt Start-up offering we want to enable a whole new generation of innovators and help them to build successful businesses assisted by the powerful application development and UI creation tools within the Qt framework.”
