Prysmian is to showcase its latest technological innovations, specifically designed for the Oil and Gas industry, at ADIPEC - one of the most influential shows in the sector at next week’s show edition taking place in Abu Dhabi from November 1st to 4th, 2010 - stand 02015, Hall 2.
Prysmian’s product portfolio at ADIPEC will focus on its wide range of Offshore and Plant & Petrochem cables, which incorporate complex and integrated energy power, control and instrumentation systems for chemical, petrochemical, power or industrial plants. The range on display will include innovative specialties such as Drylam™ and Airguard™ Cable System, cable solutions specifically designed for critical environments, with enhanced resistance to hydrocarbons and moisture aggression, reduced diameters and lower environmental impact vs. lead-sheathed cables and with increased mechanical protection, lighter weight, improved flexibility and shorter installation times compared to traditional armoured cables. To complete the available portfolio FP® fire resistant cables, Umbilicals and Submarine cable solutions will be on display as well.

ADIPEC represents an excellent opportunity to reinforce Prysmian’s strong presence in the Middle East region, where the Company is already carrying out several strategic power cable projects. The Middle East is a key area for Prysmian’s expansion strategy, especially in the high value-added markets, where special products and services are required, including extra high voltage and submarine cable systems, industrial cables for the Oil & Gas industry (onshore and offshore) and fire resistant cables for constructions.

In the Middle East region Prysmian has offices and facilities in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah (UAE), Doha (Qatar) and Kuwait. It is currently involved in high-profile projects for the development of power infrastructures throughout the Middle East, such as the 400 kV power transmission project recently awarded by TRANSCO for the connection of the Bahia and Saadiyat Grid Stations in Abu Dhabi; the development of the first-ever submarine power transmission link serving Doha and the new 400 kV high voltage underground grid connection on behalf of Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation. In the Oil, Gas, Petrochemical and Chemical industry prestigious projects currently ongoing such as the Livorno FPSO (Dubai Dry Docks), the EMAL Aluminum Smelter and the Borouge Polyolefines Plant in Abu Dhabi, the QAFCO Fertilizer in Qatar (the largest fertilizer in the world) and the LNG 2 in Yemen rely on state-of-the- art Prysmian cable systems.

These achievements again demonstrate Prysmian’s leading position and the validity of the Group’s know-how and technologies in the development of state-of-the art cable systems and the commitment to support global O&G companies with a wide range of offshore and plant & petrochem cables, umbilicals and flexible pipes. Among other projects in which Prysmian has recently been involved in the Oil and Gas industry both on-shore and offshore are some of the largest, most strategic and technologically advanced developments such as the Kashagan Oil Field in Kazakhstan, Seadrill, Petrorig and Hull (series) semi-submersible and jack-up drilling units and the Pluto LNG in Australia.
