The Prime Minister, David Cameron, recently visited Witney based Electronics Company Low Power Radio Solutions to acknowledge their continued commitment to UK Design and Manufacture of their industrial wireless communication products.
During a recent review of their manufacturing costs manufacturing in Asia and Eastern Europe were considered before new partners in the UK were finally selected. John Sharples, Managing Director of LPRS comments;” We have traditionally manufactured in the UK as our products are complex and high quality. We considered a number of seemingly lower cost overseas alternatives and discovered that by outsourcing our procurement and carefully selecting a new sub-contract manufacturer we were actually able to reduce the final cost of our product by over 10% while also retaining the flexibility of manufacturing in the UK.”

LPRS are enjoying a period of rapid growth and are actively looking to grow their export markets. Sharples continues;” We really thought we had a worthwhile “good news” story about UK plc. and that our local MP would be interested. It turned out that our Local MP was the Prime Minister who agreed with us and found the time to visit to find out more.”

During his visit David Cameron congratulated LPRS on their success and their commitment to UK design and manufacture. He was also interested to discover how recent legislation and Government initiatives, such as the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering and UKTI, may impact small UK companies and what further help might be made available to promote further growth and recruitment.
