PLX VP to Present at Ethernet Summit on PCI Express, Ethernet Coexistence
PLX Technology today announced Larry Chisvin, PLX vice president of strategic initiatives, will present at the upcoming Ethernet Technology Summit on how the coexistence of PCIe and Ethernet are transforming today’s data centers.
ChisChisvin will address how in modern data centers, where both PCIe and Ethernet are widely deployed, PCIe can meet the performance, latency, power, and compatibility requirements of emerging cloud architectures. His presentation is structured in a way to help system designers understand how the interfaces can and do work together -- rather than compete with one another -- to create an ecosystem that maximizes the traits of both technologies. It will also cover how PCIe can be used as a fabric within rack applications for data center servers and enterprise storage.
“Ethernet is often seen as the default technology for connecting hardware in data centers and across campuses, yet while its ubiquity is unquestioned, alternative technologies such as PCI Express have emerged to complement, and in some cases eclipse, Ethernet,” said Chisvin. “PCI Express and Ethernet have coexisted for some time – today’s Ethernet network adapter cards, for example, are built with PCI Express connectivity – and this is true for emerging data centers. My presentation at the Ethernet Technology Summit will illustrate how these two powerful technologies have and will ‘play nice together’ in data centers.”
