At China Femtocell Symposium 2011, Picochip announces that it now has a total of seven TD-SCDMA customers and now offers a complete TD-portfolio for the China ‘small cell’ market. Picochip is the leader in ‘small cell’ and femtocell technology, supporting products from low-cost residential femtocells to high-performing ‘carrier class’ technology for picocells, metro-femto and rural femtocells. Picochip supports WCDMA and LTE FDD as well as both TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE.
PicoThis brings the number of companies using Picochip’s TD-SCDMA product to seven, with previously announced customers of BTI, Digimoc and Femtel. For WCDMA technology, Picochip has over 30 customers with commercial products, including Cisco / ip.access (supplying AT&T and others) and ALU, supplying Vodafone group in ten countries and others. In addition, Picochip has seventeen customers for its LTE small cell products, for both LTE FDD and TD-LTE.
“China’s mobile infrastructure is progressing at an incredible rate and manufacturers and developers are looking for companies who can offer support for the full range of standards, including TD,” said Rupert Baines, VP of Marketing at Picochip. “We are the only company to offer the full portfolio in TD small cells, both 3G and 4G, and now, with Panda Electronics, we have almost 20 Chinese customers. We are very pleased with our success in China and with the achievements of our Beijing design centre who have developed these products.”
“Picochip’s support for the full portfolio of TD standards made them an excellent choice of partner for Panda Electronics,” said Jim Ren, Panda Electronics. “As a company that invests heavily in R&D it’s important for us to find partners who are equally forward-looking. With small cells set to play a large part in the roll out of next generation networks, working with Picochip gives us access to proven technology we can depend on.
At the China Femtocell Symposium a number of customers demonstrated their products based on Picochip, including UMTS Femto from Gatek in Picochip booth. BTI (TD-SCDMA femto ) and Femtel (both TD-SCDMA & WCDMA).
Picochip’s small cell portfolio is the only one in the industry to support the full range of cellular standards, including TD-SCDMA standards along with both LTE FDD and TD-LTE. Picochip’s products also support dual-mode with 3G and 4G.
