All the issues driving the power electronics industry forward - energy efficiency, more power from smaller components - served to draw a bigger audience to the PCIM exhibition in Nuremberg. The organisers were able to report a 15 per cent increase in attendance to 7,883 (2012: 6,874) and 395 exhibitors (2012: 365). Power semiconductor companies were out in force and many were brandishing new products.
International Rectifier strengthened its CoolPowIr family of COOLiRFETs range of MOSFETs with 22 new devices in different configurations and packages and Cree launched a silicon carbide based six pack power module. Vicoor's debutant was an addition to its Cool-Power DC/DC converters. The show's progress was endorsed by Peter Mies at Mitsubishi Electric: “The status of being the leading exhibition for power electronics was confirmed again by the large number of expert visitors at this year’s show. For Mitsubishi Electric PCIM Europe is the most important event of the year.”
„This year we gained a lot of new business contacts and are satisfied with PCIM Europe 2013,” commented
Axel Schmidt, Senior Field Application Engineer, KEMET.
