NEC Europe and ebb3 has announced a strategic partnership to deploy 3D business applications virtually using ebb3’s innovative technology. The partnership will combine ebb3’s in-depth knowledge of networks and virtualisation with NEC’s global market presence, bringing a High Performance Virtual Computer (HPVC) to NEC’s EMEA customer base.

Mark Vickers, CEO of ebb3 has said: “We’re proud to be supporting NEC in all markets where ebb3 can enable more specialists with the ability to innovate their working practices. Accessing the most powerful applications remotely has been complicated and challenging to manage until now, and we’re pleased to bring a transformative solution to NEC’s customer base.”

The solution will be used in the automotive and manufacturing industry, which is dependent on high powered workstations for Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software. Until now, delivering the functionality of this software remotely has been complex, limiting workstation users to fixed locations.

The companies will work together to provide the automotive and manufacturing industry with the ability to run 3D graphical applications that require very high levels of computational power from any location with a minimum of a 4G data connection. The solution will also be used in other sectors reliant on such workstations, including oil and gas, engineering, architecture, construction, automotive and design.

Mark Jackson, Head of Manufacturing Industrial Solutions Europe at NEC Europe Ltd. has said: “We are delighted to work with ebb3 to deliver workstation-class performance to our customers on any device, wherever and whatever specialism they happen to be in.

The partnership with ebb3 will initially allow our manufacturing customers to use the most innovative technology available; providing cutting-edge graphics technology to transform the way they work, collaborate and access data securely.”

The partnership represents a key stage in the growth of both companies, and follows ebb3’s recent announcement of £1m investment from Maven Capital Partners. Together, ebb3 and NEC, as a result of the strategic partnership, plan to solidify their presence as a key Digital Transformation enabler in the manufacturing sectors.
