Nu Horizons gets DT Electronics - DT gets Xilinx
Following its acquisition by Nu Horizons, DT Electronics has landed a UK and Ireland franchise with Xilinx, the programmable logic devices company. Nu Horizons already represents Xilinx in both the US and Far East. This is the UK distributor’s most significant franchise since it won the Atmel line in 2002 and it will enable the company to provide a much more comprehensive offering to customers in its core broadcast, communications and industrial markets.
The Commenting on the new agreement, Vic Buzzing, EMEA channel marketing manager for Xilinx, said, “Our products are not commodities so they need expert design-in support. DT Electronics has an outstanding reputation and track record in demand creation and were the natural choice when we decided to strengthen our distribution network in the UK.”
DT Electronics’ managing director, Tony Frere, added, “Programmable logic has been the largest gap in our product portfolio for some time and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to work with the undisputed world leader in this area. It’s good news for our customers, our staff and for UK distribution as a whole that companies of the stature of Xilinx recognise the value that focussed technical distributors bring to the semiconductor business.”
DT Electronics is in the process of adding three new field applications engineers to support the new franchise, one of whom will also act as technical manager for programmable logic. The distributor is also appointing an internal franchise manager for Xilinx.
