Nu Horizons Electronics has won a European franchise for ISSI, a manufacturer of high speed, low power SRAM, medium density DRAM memory and low density E2PROMs. The deal is an extension of an existing franchise held by Nu Horizons in North America and Asia. ISSI is one of a handful of companies still investing in SRAM technologies. Recent developments include 4Mb 5V family of asynchronous SRAM, 36Mb, quad data rate (QDR) devices, and 72Mb versions will become available in the near future. These, and other high-speed parts, are particularly suited to applications that use high-performance FPGAs and processors.
Gerry Hewitt, Nu Horizons’ European Director of Marketing, comments, “ISSI memories are the perfect complement to Xilinx FPGA parts in many applications, so this agreement helps us to deliver a more complete package for our customers’ applications. The success of our relationship with ISSI in other parts of the world means that we are able to offer immediate access to inventory, our lines of communication are well established and we are ready to provide in-depth technical support.”

Glenn Louch, ISSI’s European Managing Director, adds, “Nu Horizons has a unique business model that focuses on demand creation in every part of the world. As design, like manufacturing, becomes more geographically mobile, it makes sense for us to deal with global distribution partners that can support customers wherever they’re located. Nu Horizons’ expansion into the European market gives them that capability and we’re delighted to extend our agreement with them into this region.”
