Nexans cables to reinforce Beijing’s intra-city high voltage underground power cables
Nexans has been awarded an 11 million Euro contract by the State Grid Corporation of China to supply a high voltage power cable system that will help the Beijing Electric Power support the future development and extension of the power transmission infrastructure in China’s capital city.
The The single-core XLPE cable will feature Nexans’ largest copper cross-section to date at 2,500 mm2. A total of 21 km of cable will be laid as three separate 7 km lengths, one for each phase of the 3-phase electricity supply.
The Beijing project is set for completion towards the end of 2014.
Nexans Yanggu New Rihui, Nexans’ recently acquired power cable business of Shandong Yanggu Cables Group, strengthens the Group position in China, by serving both the Chinese market and its customers with low, medium and high voltage power cables
“A key factor in winning this prestigious high voltage contract in Beijing was the successful delivery of a similar 500 kV project in Shanghai that was a vital customer reference,” says Philippe Gastineau, Managing Director of Nexans Land High Voltage Business. “It is clear that Nexans is making a significant impact in the Chinese power infrastructure market due to our effective combination of local sales, service and manufacturing capabilities with the technical backup and expertise of the global Nexans organization”.
