National Instruments Expands its Academic Team in the UK & Ireland
National Instruments UK & Ireland is deploying additional dedicated resources to work directly with academic institutions alongside its existing office and field-based engineers. This move supports the longstanding strategic commitment NI has made globally to enhancing engineering and scientific education and research projects through the use of virtual instrumentation, graphical system design and LabVIEW.
DaviBaker will be supported by Adam Bakehouse, Academic Field Engineer, who will be available to demonstrate NI technologies to universities and to work with academic customers to specify computer-based measurement and automation solutions. Bakehouse joined NI in 2005 on its Engineering Leadership Programme, providing training and technical support to customers as an Applications Engineer, as well as working with sales and marketing directly to support customers.
Also providing support from NI UK & Ireland headquarters is Kwame Bugembe, Academic Inside Sales Engineer. A recent addition from the University of Leeds, with a BEng (Hons) in Electronic and Communications Engineering, Bugembe will provide technical assistance and advice over the phone to academic customers throughout the UK & Ireland, and can also book onsite consultations with field-based engineers, such as Baker and Bakehouse.
“National Instruments has always been committed to enhancing engineering and scientific education worldwide”, said Ajit Gokhale, NI UK & Ireland Managing Director. “By providing flexible software and modular hardware that work with mainstream computer technologies, NI helps educators and students integrate theoretical concepts with real-world applications. The experienced and talented team we have put in place to support our academic customers demonstrates our strong commitment to academia here in the UK & Ireland”.
This team will focus exclusively on working with educators, researchers and students at UK & Ireland academic institutions, particularly in the areas of:
* Measurements and instrumentation
* Circuit design and simulation
* Control, simulation and mechatronics
* Signal and image processing
* RF and wireless communications
* Embedded systems
They can provide on-site product demonstrations and assistance, technical expertise and help selecting the right products for a class, laboratory or research project, and access to exclusive curriculum resources, including courseware and laboratory exercises.
