Napatech Announces Winpcap Support
Napatech recently released WinPCAP support on its intelligent real-time network adapters. WinPCAP is an additional feature to the previously released Windows driver, believed to be the world’s fastest Windows driver for Ethernet applications. The same packet capture feature set and high performance can now be supported across Windows, Linux and FreeBSD.
WinPNapatech’s recently released support for Windows drivers on its intelligent real-time network adapters has succeeded in achieving full 10 Gbps packet capture performance – a feat that has alluded other Windows driver implementations. This allows the same level of high-performance packet capture of IP and Ethernet data already attained using Linux and FreeBSD drivers.
“This achievement is significant, as it opens new possibilities for both our OEM customers and their end-user customers. Linux and FreeBSD are well known and widely deployed, but there is a very large Windows community and a large pool of software developers with Windows experience. This pool of talent can now be tapped to provide very high-performance Windows based systems”, said Erik Norup, President Napatech Inc.
Napatech customers who have tested the Windows drivers in their network appliances have confirmed that it is capable of providing the full 10 Gbps throughput that is a challenge for other implementations.
Napatech intelligent adapters are ideal for OEM network appliance vendors in the network performance monitoring, test & measurement, security and optimization markets. For vendors, who require full 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps throughput, Napatech intelligent adapters provide a cost-effective solution with accurate time-stamping and full line-rate reception and transmission of data traffic with zero packet loss. Features such as advanced protocol and flow recognition, filtering and intelligent distribution of traffic processing on up to 32 CPU cores enable intelligent offload and acceleration of applications. An extensive software suite is provided for ease of integration supporting Linux, FreeBSD and Windows.
