NanoKTN Partners with BCF and PRA to Host Conference on Nano-enabled Coatings
The Nanotechnology Knowledge Transfer Network (NanoKTN), one of the UK’s primary knowledge-based networks for Micro and Nanotechnologies, is pleased to announce that its second Coatings focus group event will take place on 21st October 2010 in partnership with the British Coatings Federation (BCF) and the Paint Research Association (PRA). The event will look at the benefits and potential applications of nanomaterials in inks and coatings.
NanoPresentations will be delivered by key industry professionals from Netzsch Mastermix Ltd, LVH Ltd, Indestructible Paint Ltd, Intrinsiq Materials, Croda Suncare and Biopolymers, and Sun Chemical. The presentations will provide manufacturers with a better understanding of the potential for the use of nanotechnology and will address concerns about handling and processing of these materials, health and safety issues and possible future legislation.
“By providing events like these, the NanoKTN, BCF and PRA aim to support the nano-enabled coatings industry, helping businesses to realise the commercial potential and advantages of introducing nanomaterials. To ensure nano-enabled coatings get into the market place, events like these are crucial in building a supply chain and ensuring challenges and solutions can be shared,” says Dr Barry Park, Theme Manager at the NanoKTN.
The seminar will attract key management professionals in technical and operations roles, and in positions with responsibilities for environmental and regulatory affairs within companies who manufacture industrial and decorative coatings, printing inks, powder coatings and wall coverings. Complementing the event will be an exhibition showcasing the products and services of companies including Netzsch Mastermix Ltd, Promtek, Lake Chemicals and Minerals Ltd, Buhler, Cornelius, KTA, University of Surrey, CDC Microtron Ltd and LVH Coatings Ltd.
