MHA Lighting has been recognised for its outstanding performance by scooping two major awards at last night’s Energy Innovation Awards 2011.
Greater Manchester’s MHA Lighting Ltd proved the star of the evening collecting both the Existing Performance Improvement award and best of the best Energy Innovation Grand Prix award.
The MHA Lighting impressed the judges with its unique use of LED for low energy lighting, which can create savings of up to 80% compared to traditional lamps.
MHA’s patented LED technology shines the light sideways into an encapsulation and reflects it out in a uniformly distributed manner.
This achieves the photometric performance of traditional lamps whilst offering all of the benefits of LED in terms of energy and financial savings and offers a long and maintenance free life.
The glittering ceremony was held at the Hilton Deansgate Hotel and was hosted by comedian, author and broadcaster Mark Steel.
Speaking at the ceremony MHA Lighting managing director Tom Harrison said: “What an amazing evening for UK innovation and particularly for the MHA Lighting team.
“We have put so much effort in to building the business this year and to have our efforts recognised by our peers in this way is a major boost.
“We are a forward-thinking firm that takes pride in providing innovative lighting solutions. It is an honour to see our work being recognised and celebrated in this way.”
The awards, now in their second year, are the brainchild of the world-class Energy Innovation Centre, and celebrate the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations flying the flag for energy innovation and sustainability.
Entries were received from across the UK and as far afield as Eastern Europe, from a wide range of organisations including start-ups, research centres and multinational organisations.
Addressing the 200 strong audience, Denise Massey, director of the Energy Innovation Centre, paid tribute to all of the winners and runners up.
She said: “These awards celebrate the sheer skill and determination of individuals and teams who are working so hard behind the scenes to develop cutting edge-energy products and services which will benefit the environment, customers, and strengthen the energy industry moving forward.
“Tonight was their chance to shine.
“Well done to all of the winners and finalists.
“We hope that these awards inspire further innovation and we look forward to building upon the success of these awards again in 2012.”
MHA Lighting design, manufacture and supply energy efficient LED lighting solutions to public and private sector organisations throughout the UK.
MHA has LED lighting solutions for most internal and external applications.
Wherever fluorescents, halogens and metal halides are employed, MHA has an equivalent that will provide at least the same quality of light for a fraction of the energy consumption.
