CDM Electronics has announced the availability of the SEIP SumiMark IV 300 DPI marking system. The system is comprised of a thermal printer and a Microsoft Windows compatible software interface to produce 300dpi free form and serialised text, graphics, logos and barcodes on RoHS-compliant SumiMark and Sumitag formatted heat shrinkable products.

The printer produces a dry, permanent mark, which can be handled immediately after printing. Following installation and recovery, printed sleeves meet SAE-AS5942 quality specifications for the identification of wire and cable by indirect markings that are applied to electrical insulating materials. The robust printer's design enables one-step loading of tubing, or other print media, to support quick material changeovers and maximise manufacturing efficiencies. Sumitomo tubing and harnessing products are available online from CDM Electronics.

The high-performance SumiMark IV 300 DPI marking system is suitable for printing durable, legible, text and graphics on cables, harnesses and wires used in harsh environments including temperature fluctuation, and those requiring abrasion and chemical resistance. Targeting cable assembly OEMs, the system is frequently employed in industrial electronics, military/aerospace and military MRO applications. It is also widely used in railway electronics manufacturing and repair and telecomms.

Compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 and 8, the intuitive SumiMark marking system software interface allows for marker creation and printing in less than two minutes. It features a click-and-drag function to convert Microsoft Excel files into the system's software and can import all required graphics from a wide variety of file formats. It is engineered to automatically sise text to a user-specified marker length and diameter to reduce print media waste.

Optimised for long life and reliability, the SumiMark high tensile strength thermal printer is easy to set up within seconds and is supplied with USB, Ethernet or parallel communications interfaces. It prints on media in diameters of 1/6-2" and produces scored or cut labels in lengths ranging from 1/4 to 4". The unit measures 10x16x10", and weighs 25lbs.
