Link Microtek has been appointed as UK and Ireland service centre for the range of satellite communications equipment produced by US manufacturer L-3 Narda-MITEQ, Formed earlier this year following the acquisition of MITEQ Inc. by L-3’s Narda Microwave East business, L-3 Narda-MITEQ designs and manufactures standard and customised satcom products such as frequency converters, redundancy switchover units, equalisers and uplink power control systems.

Link Microtek has been acting as exclusive representative for these products in the UK and Ireland since 2012, serving both the commercial and military markets. As well as being thoroughly familiar with the product line, the company has long had its own in-house service, test and repair facilities and is therefore well placed to provide local support.

Steve Cranstone, Link Microtek’s managing director, sees the new service-centre status as an important step: “L-3 Narda-MITEQ manufactures a world-class range of equipment for satcom operators,” he said, “and in that market the availability of local product servicing is a key consideration. As an official service centre, we will be able to carry out calibration, repairs down to module level and testing at frequencies up to Ka band, while keeping turnaround times to an absolute minimum.”

For L-3 Narda-MITEQ, director of satcom sales Mitch Haft said: “We are pleased to be building on the successful relationship that has developed between Link Microtek and MITEQ in recent years, and we are confident that our customer base in the UK and Ireland will enjoy an enhanced level of support as a result of this move.”
