NXP Semiconductors announced today that LG Electronics has selected NXP's leading HDMI switch for their newly released ultra slim LED 3D TV 55LX9500. LG takes advantage of NXP HDMI switch ability to connect 3D video sources through the HDMI cable. LG INFINIA 55LX9500 3D TV will be available to consumers first in Korea followed by North America, Europe, Singapore and other key markets by early May.
NXP has continuously contributed to the HDMI standardization up to the recently released HDMI 1.4a specification, covering the main 3D TV formats. Thanks to this extensive technical and system knowledge, NXP has developed a full range of highly flexible HDMI products ranging from cost effective solutions to most complex 3D applications for all consumer devices such as TV, STB, DVD-R, PMP, Web tablets and Mobile phones.

LG is one of our lead customers using the TDA19997 HDMI switch and has fully understood the benefits of this flexible product by using it on various platforms, said Guy Ducos, VP & General Manager Business Line TV Front End, NXP Semiconductors. With the increase in availability of 3D contents and high penetration rate of HDMI in home appliances, NXP is one of the first semiconductor companies to deliver 3D ready HDMI switches. Being selected by LG Electronics validates our innovation in HDMI and leadership position in High Performance Mixed Signal.”

Released last year, the TDA19997 4:1 completes the existing NXP HDMI Switch product family. The TDA19997 re-uses a high performance auto-equalizer, embeds 5 EDIDs and is pin-pin compatible with previous and next HDMI Switch generations. The product has been developed to be upfront compatible with the new HDMI 1.4 features such as Audio Return Channel and 3D TV pictures management. NXP also supports its customers with their HDMI certification process at NXP’s Authorized Test Center in Caen.
