Focus EDL announces the latest version of its component sourcing service IC4me. Apart from a new look, IC4me now provides users with access to a much larger database of component manufacturers and suppliers, is easier to use, gives better feedback and provides quicker results. It can be found at www.ic4me.com
IC4me, which Focus introduced at the end of last year, was originally developed by the company to search for devices needed by its own customers. “No distributor, even the World’s “Big Three”, can possibly hope to stock everything a customer needs,” says Focus EDL’s Managing Director Geoff Philpot. “We were frequently asked to provide a variety of components to go alongside those from our own suppliers, so we began to develop a database of component manufacturers to approach when required. This database became very extensive so, during 2005, we decided to offer a component sourcing service to the general marketplace.” he adds.

IC4me was established as an online, almost automatic, component sourcing service which will root out hard to find components as well as those on long lead-times for example.

“In the time that IC4me has been live, we have had massive success” Says Tom Freeman, IC4me’s Technical Support Manager. “But we also noticed several areas where it could be improved, hence version two. From the user’s perspective, they will find IC4me easier to use, they will be able to view the current status of their enquiry and they will get the result of the search more quickly. Behind the scene, so to speak, we are constantly adding to the system’s database and, as it is used more, it just gets better.” Freeman adds

Access to IC4me is via either www.ic4me.com or the Focus EDL website www.focusedl.com where a link will enable customers to enter information about the component they require including target price. The search facility embedded within IC4me uses a group of unique algorithms, with progress constantly monitored by dedicated Focus EDL staff to identify worldwide sources for the target component(s
