Lantiq and ASSIA have announced a collaboration and cross-license agreement for the management of vectored systems. The partnership will utilise Lantiq's vectored VDSL chipsets and ASSIA’s DSL Expresse management software to enable broadband service providers to automatically plan, predict, manage and optimise the performance of their vectored VDSL networks.

While Lantiq has shipped nearly 2m vectored VDSL ports to its DSLAM vendor customers, ASSIA’s DSL Expresse management software manages approximately 20% of all DSLs worldwide. The combination of these products will ensure the best possible customer experience and maximise the return on investment for broadband service providers.

Investing in broadband technologies that use existing copper infrastructure, service providers worldwide are transitioning from ADSL to next-generation VDSL and vectored VDSL networks, which deliver speeds of more than 100Mbps. Vectored VDSL networks offer a short time-to-revenue and cost-effective response to the rapid growth in consumer demand for broadband. Deutsche Telekom, AT&T, Belgacom, KPN and Swisscom are all currently planning to offer vectored VDSL services.

Dan Artusi, CEO, Lantiq, commented: “By collaborating with ASSIA, we expect to leverage the full benefits of vectored VDSL, regardless of deployment scenario, and to set the highest standards for product performance for our customers. The agreement also assures substantial IP protection for customer deployments based on Lantiq chipsets and ASSIA software tools.”

“ASSIA is delighted to be working with Lantiq on the products and solutions that make the deployment and management of vectored VDSL networks easier and faster. As a result of this agreement, service providers worldwide have the opportunity to improve customer experience and economically deliver high-performance broadband services to the digital home,” comments Dr. John Cioffi, CEO and Chairman, ASSIA.
