Johann Hiebl assumes Leadership of Infotainment & Connectivity Business Unit

Johann Hiebl (51) will take over management of the Infotainment & Connectivity business unit of Continental's Interior Division on December 1, 2012. The business unit is based in Deer Park (USA) with development and production locations in North and South America, Asia and Europe. At these locations, experts work on radios, multimedia systems and telematics units. Hiebl brings over 30 years of experience in automotive electronics to his new role. He began working in the Body & Security business unit in 1985 where he developed products in the area of body control modules and later worked on the launch of direct tire pressure monitoring systems. After holding various management positions in the business unit in Europe and the USA, he took over management of the Asian customer segment in Body & Security for several years in Japan. ##IMAGE_2_R##Since the 1950s, Continental and its predecessor companies have been supplying radios to automotive manufacturers all around the world. The company has been a trendsetter in the field of navigation and multimedia systems since 1994. Continental also has a long history in vehicle networking with more than 24 million telematic units produced worldwide. Current products range from factory-fitted hands-free systems and telematic units through simple radios to multimedia systems with internet connection and touch-screen operation. In 2011, Continental celebrated the delivery of its one millionth radio navigation system to Volkswagen. In 2012, production was launched for a new infotainment system for various Fiat and Chrysler vehicle models. The start of production of the first infotainment system based on the Genivi standards for another European vehicle manufacturer is planned for late 2014.
