JAOtech was named Start-Up of the Year at the prestigious Electronics Weekly Elektra awards in London – the third award in a month for the young Redhill-based company. Making the award, the judges were impressed by JAOtech’s progress in developing the market for its patient entertainment terminals increasing its sales ten-fold in 2008-9, shipping well over 30,000 to hospitals and clinics. They commented, “This year it acquired a company in the US to strengthen its presence in this important market, and opened local customer support centres in Australia, France and the Netherlands.”
Warren Kressinger-Dunn, CEO of JAOtech, commented, “The Elektras are one of the most prestigious awards of the electronics industry, and we are very proud to have been named Start-Up of the Year. This award is a tribute to the whole of the JAOtech team, who together have developed a world class product and successfully taken it to market.”

Now in its seventh year and firmly established as an annual high point of the electronics industry, the Elektra Awards give the industry the opportunity to recognise the achievements of individuals and companies across Europe. They are designed to promote best practice in key areas, including innovation, sales growth and employee motivation, and are presented by Electronics Weekly, one of the leading publications for the industry. The Start-Up of the Year award was sponsored by International Rectifier, a top semiconductor manufacturer.

JAOtech also received the Best Use of Technology award at the Startups Awards and the Medical Advances Award at the e-Legacy awards, voted for by readers of the Electronic Product Design magazine, for a project at The Children’s Hospital, Sheffield where it played a key part in the patient bedside terminal system.
