Hyundai is participating for the first time at the European Business Summit in Brussels, speaking on sustainable mobility and displaying the company’s latest products, including the ix35 Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV).
During his speech at a seminar entitled ‘EU-Asia: Solutions to sustainable transport‘, Allan Rushforth, Senior Vice President and COO at Hyundai Motor Europe, highlighted Hyundai’s work on reducing CO2 emissions through its innovative FCEV programme.

Rushforth noted that the memorandum of understanding signed last week by Hyundai and the City of Copenhagen demonstrates the company’s commitment to a sustainable future for transport in Europe. The agreement will see the two parties cooperate on establishing the necessary infrastructure for the supply and use of FCEVs in Denmark.

“Partnerships between the private sector and government, such as ours with the City of Copenhagen, are essential to support advances in new technologies and alternative fuels in the years ahead, leading to the development of sustainable transport systems for the future,” said Rushforth.

The mayors of four other Nordic cities also drove the ix35 FCEV last week, demonstrating a technology in which Hyundai already has a leadership role in Europe. This ground-breaking car will be displayed throughout the Summit.

Also on show at the event is Hyundai’s i40, which goes on sale in Europe from July 1st. “We are confident that the i40 will play a key role in strengthening our presence in the European fleet market, and we’re hoping to develop relationships with Europe’s business leaders during the Summit,” said Rushforth.
