Now in its second year, the North Sea Offshore Wind conference and brokerage event is to be held in the Humber on the 10 October 2012 following its successful launch in Stiklestad, Norway, in 2011. The event will be hosted by Enterprise Europe Network in Yorkshire and Renewables Network and will further promote and highlight the Humber as a centre for offshore renewable engineering.
The Norwegian delegation will be led by Norwegian cluster and networking organisations Wind Cluster Mid-Norway, Intpow and Arena Now and will spend three days in the Humber. Centred around the North Sea Offshore Wind conference and brokerage event, the delegation will visit Green Port Hull and Port of Grimsby East, two of the main sites at the heart of the Humber’s offshore renewables hub.

Key figures in the sector from both the UK and Norway have been confirmed as speakers, including representatives from RES Offshore, Smartwind, Windcluster Mid-Norway, Reef Subsea, FEDEM Technology and InTurbine with more speakers still to be announced.

The brokerage event will allow like-minded industry professionals to meet, exchange knowledge and develop new partnerships to take advantage of this fast growth sector.

Facilitated through an online catalogue of registered delegates, companies will have the opportunity to hold one-to-one meetings with relevant businesses, helping to develop and facilitate these opportunities for attendees at the conference. Rounding off the activities will be the North Sea Offshore Wind Gala Dinner, providing the platform for Norwegian and UK delegates to network on a more informal basis.

The mission from Norway follows a series of successful activities led by the Enterprise Europe Network in Yorkshire with partners in Norway, Germany and Denmark, supporting Yorkshire and Humber companies to develop key relationships as well as win business abroad. Through these activities three joint ventures have been established between UK and overseas companies including Cosalt Wind Energy, Blue Water Danbrit UK and Alpha Energy.

Tim Barraclough, senior consultant at Enterprise Europe Network in Yorkshire said: “It’s great to be hosting a delegation of companies from Norway and building on the successes of the last three years which have helped support local companies.

“Working with our partners in Norway as well as the Renewables Network, we are confident that the second edition of the North Sea Offshore Wind conference and brokerage event will bring plenty of opportunities for both the UK and Norwegian delegates.”

The mission will take place from the 9 to 11 October 2012 with the conference and brokerage activity taking place on 10 October 2012.
