Huawei and vividwireless Launch MIMO BeamForming WiMAX Network
Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, and vividwireless, Australia' s leading wireless broadband operator, today announced the launch of Australia' s first commercial WiMAX network in Perth – the most powerful wireless broadband network in the country. It is also the world' s first WiMAX network to adopt cutting-edge 4T4R (4 transmitter and 4 receiver) and Beamforming technology, delivering wireless access speeds comparable to most ADSL2+ connections.
BeamMartin Mercer, CEO of vividwireless, commented: Over six short months we have built Australia' s most powerful wireless broadband network and assembled all of the pieces of a leading internet business. This remarkable achievement is a testament to skill, experience, team work, and motivation. Support from Huawei, our supplier of network equipment and terminals, was vital to meeting this tight deadline.
The beamforming-enabled vividwireless network provides users with an exceptional wireless broadband experience, even if they are located some distance from a cell site, said Peter Rossi, CTO of Australia,Huawei. Huawei' s global leadership position in the development of WiMAX standards allows us to offer operators new and innovative technologies like beamforming and 4T4R.
The Perth network is the first phase of vividwireless' national WiMAX rollout plan. As vividwireless' s exclusive WiMAX network provider, Huawei will deliver additional WiMAX networks in 2010 covering Australia' s largest cities including Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, and Brisbane.
To date Huawei ranks number one in terms of commercial WiMAX contracts with more than 65 deployment contracts across North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Middle East, and Africa.
